Getting more space from your home

*PR collaboration

It might not be the first thing you think of when you learn you’re pregnant, but getting more space in your home is a must if you’ve got a new arrival on the way! For some this might mean moving home, but not everyone can afford that, or even wants to move. There are other options out there that make a lot more sense, meaning you can stay in the house you love, and save some money.

 Extend your home

The first option is to extend your home by either adding a traditional extension or something more visually appealing like a conservatory. There’s a number of builders out there who can help you at a reasonable price, such as Steve Gilbert - but you can also use sites like Rated People to ensure that you get a professional service in your area!

Extending your home doesn’t have to cost the earth, and it can mean that you get the home you really want without having to move.

Have a clear out

This one is slightly less dramatic, but can be just as much hard work! Having a Spring clean is one thing, but we’re talking about a major clear out here. Start by getting some boxes, the local supermarket, pharmacy or takeaway will be a good place to start!

Tackle the task room by room, and you will soon get through it. You can clear rooms’ worth of junk using this method, meaning that you’ll have the extra space you need.

One way of doing it is to set a limit on when you’ve last used something. For example, if you find something and you haven’t worn it, or done anything with it for the last 2 years, then it goes in the clear out box! This can help you get the job done quickly.

Make use of your outdoor space

Another great tip is to make better use of your outdoor space. To do this consider getting a shed or a storage unit, so that you can put some of your things from inside, outside. This is particularly useful if you have little ones as you can store prams, bikes, and other toys outside, allowing you more space on the inside for what matters.

Sheds fit perfectly into the corner of most gardens – don’t worry if you don’t have much space, sheds come in all shapes and sizes.

Whichever way you go, the most important thing for you and your family is to be happy in your home. If you go the extension route, sometimes disputes can occur – if this does happen make sure you seek professional help from the likes of Taylor Rose to get everything resolved.

Getting more space in your home can be really important, especially if you have a growing family. Be creative, shop around, and make sure you do what’s right for you so that you’re happy in your home with more space!
