Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream!

I have never really been one for BB creams or tinted moisturisers, since suffering with acne and scarring, i don't find they suit my skin type or give me enough coverage, even on the 'good' parts of my skin. The only other BB cream i have tried and reviewed is the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector and i thought this had pretty good coverage and colour but just made my skin way too oily/shiny.

Because of this, i never thought i'd try a BB cream or tinted moisturiser again, because i know they will never be enough coverage or mattifying enough. However, after seeing Anna's video on her everyday make-up, i thought i would give this one a shot. Anna has suffered with breakouts throughout her pregnancy and also has oily skin, so i thought if it worked for her, it could work for me. I picked up the same shade, 'Universal Glow'.

I planned to use it exactly like her, so on the Boots 3 for 2 offer, i picked up the Maybelline super stay 24 hour concealer to use along with it. I was also sent some samples of the 'Light' version so thought i would swatch the two colours.

As you can see, the universal glow is very orange, but is meant to adjust to your skin colour the more you blend it in.

BB creams are attractive to many people for being an all-in-1 product. Maybelline Dream Fresh claims to have 8 benefits in 1;

-Creates a natural glow,
-Compliments skin tone,
-SPF30 UV protection,
-Hydrates all day,
-Blurs imperfections,
-Oil-free, non greasy,
-Looks visibly smooth,
-Feels fresh.

It sounds a 'dream' excuse the pun for anyone who wants a quick base and can't be faffing about with lots of different products.

It is meant to be a light coverage but personally, it just isn't enough for me, i find it barely does anything except give my skin a tinge of colour and not so nice glow. All the benefits seem perfect but i just can't get on with this. I'm used to a heavier coverage so i wouldn't even use this to just 'pop to the shops' or on a 'lazy sunday' and i don't think it makes any difference!

I did use it along with the concealer, but i felt i needed the concealer virtually everywhere and so it seemed a bit pointless. I wasn't a big fan of this concealer either, i found it looked ashy and drying, which probably didn't help. I also felt the BB cream was way too greasy for my skin, despite supposedly being 'oil-free and non greasy' and setting it with No7's matte, loose powder. It had no lasting power and where i had used bronzer/blush, it went patchy as the BB cream came off throughout the day.

I'm really disappointed i bought this as i have only used it once and really, really dislike it! I have used it again since my acne cleared up and i still dislike it! I don't understand all the people that are loving it at the moment and i am definitely going to stick to fuller coverage foundations. Although i'd love to cut my make-up routine down for when i'm busier with a baby, i can't skimp on the coverage or finish of my skin. I'd much rather take a little longer putting it on and know that it will stay there and look good all day.

Do you get on with BB creams?
