Kick start your weight loss

One of the hardest parts of any weight loss journey is getting started. Many of us can delay the beginning of a weight loss programme for days, weeks, or even months. We’ll say, “I’ll wait until all the junk food is gone” or “Once those social engagements are out of the way”. However, these are all just excuses. The silly thing is, if you can get started, then the journey just gets easier and easier. Once we see the numbers on the scale dropping, that’s motivation enough to keep going. With this in mind, I’ve come up with some great ideas to help kickstart your weight loss.

Detox
Trying to cut out all those sugary foods and snacks is going to be hard. The best way to do it? Detox. It may seem like an impossible task to start with, but it does get easier. Detoxing is also an excellent way to get your body ready for lots of healthy food and exercise. You’ll flush out the nasty toxins, which then makes it easier to avoid unhealthy snacks. There are so many different types of detox out there, depending on how hardcore you want to go. One of the best simply involves drinking a pint of warm water in the morning, with half a lemon squeezed in.

Get Walking
You don’t have to go suddenly from no exercise to hitting the gym every day, to lose weight. In fact, going from one extreme to the other can actually be quite dangerous. If you want to ease yourself into a healthy lifestyle, then you need to get walking. Instead of driving to the local shops, walk instead. If you live within walking distance to work, then you know what to do! Even just walking around the block or taking the kids to the park, will make a big difference.

Pre-Prepared Meals and Shakes
There are plenty of plans out there that have been designed to help you kickstart your weight loss journey. Generally, these consist of pre-prepared meals and shakes. This limits your calorie intake while ensuring you’re getting all of the right nutrients. Nutrisystem Fast Five is a prime example of one of these plans. It’s important to remember that these aren’t a long term solution. They have simply been designed to kickstart weight loss. Most will consist of 5-7 days worth of meals and shakes. It’s then up to you to continue that momentum with healthy foods and regular exercise.

Go Shopping
By the end of your first week, you should already be feeling a lot more motivated. It’s a good idea to get your food shopping done before the week is over. Have a look around for healthy eating recipes and inspiration. Make yourself a menu for the coming week, that covers everything from breakfasts to snacks. It’s a good idea to do your food shop online, to avoid the temptation of the chocolate aisle. You’re now all set to continue your weight loss journey!

Kickstarting weight loss is one of the best ways to ensure more long term success. Once you start to see results, you’ll be much more inclined to live a healthier lifestyle. It won’t be long before you fit back into those jeans!
