Tehidy Holiday Park & Wigwam Review!

On Monday, the three of us set off for a little 2 night glamping break; we headed to the award winning Tehidy Holiday Park in Cornwall. The park offers self-catering accommodation for caravans and tents and also has wigwam cabins and cottages to stay in.

The site has been voted best UK small site in 2012, best family site in the UK in 2013 and best holiday caravan site in UK 2014 so we were very much looking forward to it.

We were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and explained everything clearly and gave us all the relevant information, before showing us a map of the site. He pointed out all the useful areas such as toilets, drinking water tap, recycling facilities etc. although it is a small site so is easy to navigate after a little walk around.

We had one of the Wigwam cabins to stay in and we had never stayed in anything like this before, so we were intrigued and excited.

The Wigwams are really unique and have a really nice, homely cosy feel to them being fully insulated and having double glazing. They also offer more privacy than a tent as they have a lockable door... fab! They are equipped with a freeview TV, kettle, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, storage boxes, lighting, electric sockets and a panel heater. They also have raised, padded seating all the way round that transform into a comfy sleeping platform (for upto 5 people) for the night time so is more luxury than camping.

I thought we'd stuggle to warm up or stay warm but the heater was fantastic and warmed up our wigwam in no time, none of us woke up cold in the morning either which was great. The bed was also super comfy! We both thought that the wigwams looked smaller from the outside than what they feel inside. We had plenty of room even when in 'bed' mode. Sienna even tried out the floor space.. yep, plenty of room for those toddler tantrums ;)

Outside is the decked area with log seats and lighting and hooks for coats or jackets. Opposite was a little cooking shelter again with the log seats and to the side of our Wigwam we had a little BBQ and picnic bench. Unfortunately we didn't get to use this as it was a little cold and windy but in the Summer it would be a great spot to use.

In the middle of the site is a play area that included swings, mini climbing frame complete with climbing wall & slide, trampoline, basketball hoop and table tennis. As well as this, there were also some picnic benches dotted around for use in the nicer weather.

All the facilities we needed were close at hand on the site; free hot showers, toilets, dishwashing room, laundry room with washing machines, tumble dryer and iron/ironing board, games room, on-site shop and (not free) WiFi. Again, we didn't use the washing up room or laundry as we weren't there long enough really but all areas looked clean and well equipped which was brilliant. I love how it's all in one block together as well, not dotted around the site in different places.

Although the park does have most things you could need, it is in a great central location and there's a whole list of recommended restaurants, takeaways and activities that are local to the park for you to discover.

For families that have children under 3, you get access to the 'family room' which has a toilet, shower, changing unit, hair dryer (takes 50p coins), baby bath and sink area (including razor point). We were extremely impressed with this as it made showering and everything so much easier with Sienna and gave us more privacy. It's only accessible by key (we were given ours on check-in) so it doesn't get used by everyone else which is great. I think this was probably the best thing about the site that made it so family friendly.

 Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tehidy. We loved staying in the wigwam, it was different and fun and acted as a great base for sleeping after exploring Cornwall in the day. The wigwams are priced from £50 per night (upto 2 people) which we thought was a fair price for what you get. The park itself had brilliant facilities, was clean and well kept and felt extremely family friendly and welcoming. It wasn't hard for us to see why Tehidy holiday park has won so many awards and we would definitely consider going back in the future!

I also did a Vlog review of the park/area here:

and we also did a Vlog of what we got up too around Cornwall here;
