What I Wore #1

With Mother's Day on the horizon, F&F invited me to take part in their 'Mumspiration' challenge. It involved me thinking of how my mum's inspired me with her own fashion and taking that inspiration to create an outfit of my own.

My mum and I are quite different when it comes to our fashion styles. Mum has always gone for colour and patterns, I joke sometimes that she should be a hippy as she always gravitates to that kind of clothing. I however, never really do colour or pattern, I may brave a bit of coral or leopard print but nothing bright and I would never wear anything multi coloured or clash colours. It just isn't me and I would feel self conscious so stick to the 'safe' colours, grey being my favourite.

This challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to break out my comfort zone and I was determined to not go 'safe'. I searched the website for hours, I had spotted this dress straight away but thought it was a little too much for me, so I tried to find something else. After more hours, the dress just kept jumping out at me so I went with it.

It's the Stella Morgan Floral Print Open Back Dress* and I really love it actually, it is very different to anything I own but I love the change, the bright colours look great with a tan and the floral pattern is just so pretty, great for this time of year. It's a nice thin, floaty material that will be perfect for hot days, especially with the open back. I also think because it is so light and floaty you could get way with wearing it in the daytime with flip-flops for a more casual look.

I wanted some heels to go with it though as again I always feel self conscious in them so never wear heels so again, it was out of my comfort zone. These gorgeous Lime Pointed Court Shoes* caught my eyes and are just absolutely incredible, I adore them! The point helps elongate your legs and is very on trend at the moment, I love how elegant and classy they look even in the bright colour. They have already had a lot of love from you lot after I posted a picture of them on my Instagram and rightly so, they're beauties!

I also grabbed this Fluffy, Cropped Jumper* in the baby pink. I thought it would be a nice addition if get a bit chilly. I love the slight contrast of the bright colours in the dress with the pastel of the jumper and also the contrast of the slouchy, laid back jumper with a nice dress and heels. It's so soft and is very versatile, I'm wearing it today with just jeans and flats and it still looks great. Sienna loves cuddling me when I'm wearing this as it is so soft, haha!

I'm really glad I got to take part in this challenge and have only my mum to thank for helping me break out my comfort zone and brave the colours and patterns. Somehow wearing colour actually makes me feel happier and more confident so not only has my mum helped my style, she has helped me with confidence too so thank you Mum! I'm definitely going to be buying more colour when it comes to Spring/Summer clothing, I can't believe how much I love this outfit! Thanks Mum! :)

How does your mum inspire your style? What do you think of my outfit?
