Martinhal Chiado family hotel review

The second part of my Portugal trip last month included staying at the Martinhal Chiado family hotel. This is still a 5* hotel (all of the Martinhal's are) and is still family friendly, however this is right in the centre of Lisbon so is great if you are wanting to see the city.

The Chiado doesn't just offer hotel rooms, it actually offers whole apartments and suites for families which for the middle of a city centre is amazing - and they are not small! They are beautifully designed and really give you own space and place to connect as a family when you're back from a busy day out exploring.

I absolutely loved the decor, it was still luxurious but had brighter, bolder colours to fit in with the city vibe of Lisbon instead of the white, spa feel of the Cascais hotel but both are equally beautiful. I have actually been lusting over orange sofas since I got back but my husband is not so keen!

Each apartment or suite has a kitchen complete with a stove, dishwasher, washer-dryer, fridge and basic crockery, cutlery and pots and pans to make your city-centre stay perfectly manageable, and even more importantly, enjoyable with little children. They also offer the same family concierge as the Cascais and can pre-organise little details like bottle warmers, bottle sterilisers, etc prior to arriving at your hotel.

The bathrooms are well equipped and ours already had a toilet seat, potty and toilet step in it for kids. We only used the double bed while there but we did also have the fold out beds similar to Cascais for if we had taken the girls with us!

The kids club was smaller than the one in Cascais obviously minus the pools and outside area but still a really lovely area for kids. It looks so fun and exciting and I love that they offer a pyjama cinema night so parents can escape into the city for a lovely meal and explore. They also offer a baby sitting service if you'd prefer. Another fun addition is the kids climbing wall in one of the hallways too!

The Chiado hotel has only one restaurant that offers a buffet breakfast as well as eggs and pancakes cooked to order and then light snacks and meals throughout the day as you are more than likely to be out and about exploring. It closes at 7pm but you can order room service to your apartment until 11pm if you would like.

Both Martinhal hotels offer exceptional childcare and kids facilities which in turn offers a more relaxing, stress free holiday for parents and I can't recommend them enough if Cascais or Lisbon is your destination of choice!

*Thank you so much to Martinhal for hosting the blogging conference and my 4 night stay at the hotels. I can't wait to come back!
