Marking the special moments in your family's life

When you start a new family key dates come thick and fast. When there aren’t birthdays, there’s an anniversary, then there is Mother’s Day, other celebrations and first days of school. The list goes on. All such occasions are important and you will not want them to just pass you by. Therefore, it is important to mark the event in a special way, be it a celebration event or simply keeping some kind of record of how you marked the occasion. Here are a few suggestions.

Keep a Diary
Keeping a diary is a great way of ruminating on events which happen every day. By digesting the days goings on and your reaction to them you truly learn from experience. It is also lovely to look back at weeks in your life and reliving memories by reading your old diary entries. In the hustle and bustle of the early days of a young family a diary is indispensable.

Family Parties
This is an obvious one but family parties are perhaps not as popular as they once were. However, it is a great thing for young ones growing up to get to know their aunts, uncles and cousins. When possible try and bring as much of the family together as possible. The older members of the family will especially enjoy such occasions.

Holidays Away
Sometimes the best way to celebrate a family milestone is to get away and bond as an immediate family unit. A birthday or anniversary in sunnier climes just makes the occasion that bit more special. Combining holidays with special occasions make them more memorable and sometimes it’s nicer to gift someone an experience such as a holiday rather than a material possession which may go out of fashion in time.

Family Portrait
Marking a special event with a family portrait is a good idea for a number of reasons. Professional photographers such as those at Venture Studios know how to bring the personality out in your family. What you get is a memento of an event and a record of a special period of your family’s life. Take your family to a studio and you get an experience – book a Venture experience here.

Planting a Tree
Planting a sapling with the kids in your garden to mark an occasion is a fun activity and it will teach them a little about nature. It is also fun to look at the tree as it grows and remember the reason why it was planted. You could even make a plaque to accompany the tree.

Whatever you do on these early special occasions make sure you document them by taking lots of pictures. They will be lots of fun to look back on in years to come.
