*We were gifted our flights, accommodation & WithLocals tours but paid for everything else ourselves*
On our Europe travels last year, Lisbon was probably our favourite destination. It's bright, colourful and quirky yet family friendly too. I love the tram lines, cobbled streets and graffiti walls everywhere and so did the kids. The only down side about it is the streets are quite narrow and very steep. Getting to our air b'n'b was a bit interesting but actually pushing the stroller around wasn't too bad in the main centre.
One our bucket list, was to go to the 'Sexiest WC on Earth' which is located on the main square of Praça do Comércio near the Tagus River. It was a fun experience and the girls loved it. You basically get to choose your own colour toilet roll to use off the wall. It's one Euro each and the toilets are quirky. You can also buy napkins and toilet roll at the shop so we bought some bright pink toilet roll home with us! I'd recommend paying a visit if you go!
On the walk back from there, there is a very talented man using all the rocks on the side of the river to make statues. He just balances all of the rock on one another and thats it - it's very clever and the girls loved watching him and seeing what he'd done!
One of our WithLocals tours that we did out there was an art class which was fab. After all the sight seeing and walking it was nice to be able to do what the girls loved best; getting crafty. They learnt about some history first in a very fun way which captivated them and then got to work making who they had learned about.
We also came across a little market that was on while we were there which was lovely. We love a market wherever we are and as the weather was good and Aria was sleeping in the pushchair, we stopped for a well needed drink and rest!
As the girls had learnt about Saint Antonio in their history bit of the art class; we decided to find the Museum. Outside was this really fun flower wall which they loved. We decided not to go in the museum but it was still a good find.
Ice cream waffles from Gelateria Fiori in Cais do Sodré was a must!
Last but not least, we had our first Tuk Tuk ride which the girls absolutely loved too! I was a little scared as it was quite fast down the steep streets but again I'd recommend it if you can find one! It's a fun experience to really be authentic.
Lisbon definitely stole our hearts and we can't wait to take Roma back now she is here!
