Holidaying with little ones is always a memorable experience. Just seeing their faces light up when they reach the beach, pool or attraction you planned makes it all worth it. But travelling with children isn’t all sunshine and roses, especially if those kids are under the age of five. So, to make things as easy as possible on yourself, book a hotel that specifically caters towards families, then you won’t need to worry about cots, baby food and finding activities your little ones will enjoy.
There are several hotel chains out there that aim to make sure your kids have a spectacular trip, and that you enjoy it just as much as they do. Here’s a little list of some of the best hotel lines to take the family to on your next holiday.
First Choice Splashworld hotels
If you’ve got some water lovers in your family there’s no better pick than First Choice’s Splashworld hotels. These hotels each either have their own water park within the grounds, or have one that’s close enough to walk or take a free shuttle bus to. First Choice takes their waterparks very seriously and even employed their own slide tester, who spent the summer travelling around to all the SplashWorld hotels and rating the slides, corkscrews and Kamikazes.
Because these hotels are such a popular spot for young families they each offer free WiFi, so you can stay connected to friends and family back home. If you’re travelling to a hot destination, a Splashworld hotel is the ideal spot to cool down in and is sure to keep all the little people in your family happy all holiday long.
Westin Resorts
Adventure-loving kids will go wild for Westin Resorts’ glam camping. The Indoor Camping Adventure Package comes complete with an in-room tent, plush toys and a family film to watch. Each hotel has their own specific kid amenities, like the Westin Resort Costa Navarino which has its own aqua park with water slides, playground and recreational centre with holds a basketball court, cinema, and video arcade room.
If you’ve got really little ones, the Cocoon room is especially designed for them. This play area is for ages four months to three years and has fun activities like painting, clay sculpting and non-competitive sports. The Sandcastle is for those older ones, ages four to twelve, and has a spacious games area with slides, drawing workshops and a theatre-style courtyard.
TUI Family Life hotels
Formerly known as Thomson Family Life, TUI’s family friendly hotels have facilities that cater to every age group. They have free children’s clubs running six days a week that range from toddlers to teens, so no matter what age children you have they’ll be taken care of. They even have baby lounges that have all the newborn necessities like microwaves, changing tables and bottle warmers.
The family suites and apartments come in all shapes and sizes and have separate or partitioned-off living areas. This is a must if your little ones go to bed early and you want to stay up and watch a film or talk louder than a whisper with your significant other. TUI Family Life hotels also have a ton of options when it comes to dinning, with buffet restaurants and endless international food choices as well as a designated children section – they even have a special area for preparing baby food.
Scandic
Scandic has been awarded Best Hotel for Children in 2016 for a fourth year running by the Swedish family travel website www.barnsemester.se. If you’re planning on visiting Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany or Finland, take a look at their website, as Scandic is the largest Nordic hotel operator with over 230 hotels to choose from. They even have their own little mascot, Sigge the hedgehog, who stays in the hotel and holds pancake parties for the kids.
There’s lots of incentives to stay here as a family, especially since children under the age of 13 stay for free! Kids under 13 also get their breakfast free of charge and you can get two kid’s dishes or 50% off at the a la carte menu. Everything is specifically catered toward your little ones’ enjoyment, which is why they all receive a welcome gift when checking in and have kids TV stations, like Disney channel, in all the rooms.
Those are just a few of the best hotels out there for little travellers, have you been to any others that I haven’t mentioned? Let me know in the comments.
