We've been Umming and Ahhing about moving since the Summer last year. We've seen several different houses, talked about renting again, saving for a deposit, shared ownerships.. we've just been so undecided on what will be the best option in the long run.
But we've decided to stay put.. for now. Shared ownership seems to be the only way we'll go on the ladder anytime soon, so we have started saving for that. Although we're hoping to go to Disneyland Paris tooo... ;) I guess there's no urgency in moving yet!
The main reason for wanting to move in the first place is that we are finding this house pretty small.. we feel we are outgrowing it really quickly. We could also really do with an office.. I work from home 24/7 and Warren does atleast one day a week, so office space is kind of essential. At the moment, it's the kitchen table... Not the worst set up, but not the best either, especially with 2 noisy girls running around, it can be hard to concentrate.
If we stay here for a few more years, we have talked about switching the rooms around and the girls having Bunk Beds from Room To Grow in Sienna's room. We could then turn Aria's room into a study for us which would be better.
I feel like bunk beds look fun for kids and are practical for space saving but can also be quite dangerous too. There's a few things you should know about bunk bed safety if you're considering them too...
-Children younger than 6 are too young to sleep in the top bunk.
-Guardrails should be at least 5 inches above the top of the mattress to prevent children rolling over the edge.
-Use the correct mattress size for the bed and ensure the mattress foundation is strong.
-Never let children play/jump on a bunk bed or ladder.
-Ensure that the top bunk is situated away from ceiling fans and light fixtures.
-Fit a night light at ground level near the ladder.
-Teach kids how to carefully climb the ladder.
-Do not allow children to attach belts, scarves or ropes to the bunk bed.
I've told Sienna all these points already, so she knows to wait until she's 6. The problem is now she keeps asking how long it is until she is 6, haha! That's if we're even still here by then... who knows what the future holds!
