When buying baby essentials, the costs can soon creep up and end up being a lot more than you thought or budgeted for. When I found out I was pregnant with Sienna, we had pretty much no money as she wasn't planned. I had also been sacked the week before we found out and we had to use all our savings to move house as our little one bedroom flat didn't allow kids, nor was it big enough to bring a baby up in. It was a hard time to say the least so we used these tips to help us back then so I hope they help you too!
Sign up to baby clubs
Many baby clubs you can sign up to offer free money off or half price vouchers and sometimes some samples. Don't forget to claim your free bounty packs either as they also have some really good samples of nappies and sudocrem in etc.
Always check for promotional codes
If you're purchasing online, it's worth seeing if you can find any promotional codes. Sometimes you can find a code for free delivery or 10% off.. and every little helps remember!
Make the most of points schemes
As well as baby clubs, some stores offer a point scheme so you can build them up when buying baby products and then use them to purchase the essentials in the future when you need to restock.
Define the 'real' essentials
Baby essentials can differ from family to family so at first, start of with the real essentials such as nappies, wipes etc. and then have a think of what items you think will be essential for your lifestyle or family and go with them. For example, you might feel baby wearing will be easier for you so you may not need to purchase a pram or vice versa.
Make the most of the sales & events
Check the sales and keep an eye out for when baby events are starting so you can stock up when the items are more affordable and buy in bulk.
Consider hiring
For things you won't be using for a long period of time, considering hiring them. It can save you a lot of money and saves you having to try and sell it when you're done!
I hope these tips have helped you in some way and as always, please leave your own advice and tips in the comments!
