Home decor | Upcycling

When we moved house, we picked up a really cute small second hand wardrobe that I knew would be perfect for baby's room if I upcycled it. I wanted a smaller wardrobe as the room isn't huge and I love having a bit of extra storage on top. I forgot to take a proper photo of it before but you can see in the background above, it was just a plain pine wardrobe, nothing too pretty!

I wanted it white and so I painted it using the Rustoleum chalky finish furniture paint in Chalk White. Chalk paint leaves a lovely matt finish and covers evenly without having to sand or prime the product before so it's a quicker option for busy mums like me! I was so surprised at just how well this paint covered and how quick it was to get this whole wardrobe done! It also dried really quickly which was another bonus, I'd highly recommend it if you want to upcycle anything.. I'm thinking of doing our dining table next!

This is the finished wardrobe and I'm so happy with it! I think it turned out great and even Warren said it turned out better than he thought it would (he didn't have much faith in me upcycling it!). The finish is fab, I love the matt look and it was so much cheaper than buying a whole new wardrobe.

I changed the door knobs to add some colour and a more unique feel to it, I ordered these from eBay and think they finish it off perfectly! I'm so glad I stuck to my guns and didn't cave and just buy a new one as this is so much more personal and fits with the rest of the room so well!

What do you think? Are you a fan of up cycling?
